Senior Electromyography Assistant (EMG)

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. EMG Assistant.

In this role, the successful candidate Perform or assist in the performance of nerve conduction velocity (NCV) and electromyography (EMG) tests, as directed by the Asst Director of Neurodiagnostics.

 

Job Responsibilities:

    • Prepares patient for testing. Gathers and sets up equipment and supplies according to established departmental procedures. Calibrates equipment prior to procedure, ensuring its proper functioning for procedure. Interacts with patients by identifying self to patient and verifies identity of patient by checking patient indentifiers. Prepares patient using proper departmental criteria and techniques.
    • Under the direction of the physician, performs nerve conduction testing.
    • Attaches electrodes as appropriate. Generates electrical impulse to stimulate motor response. Completes procedure and assures that all measures have been obtained; removes electrodes from patient and assists patient, as needed. Generates a preliminary measurement report for review by the attending physician.
    • Prepares the patient, and assists physician with EMG testing.

 

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a High School Graduate required. Ability to operate EP & EMG equipment. Good communication skills required. Requires physical and manual dexterity needed to lift and support patients and to calibrate equipment..

Required Licenses: Reg Nerve Condctn Technologist, Reg Nerve Condctn Technologist

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree preferred. Two to three years previous experience in clinical neurophysiology laboratory preferred

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
