EMG/NCV Technician
Position Overview: As a nerve conduction study technician in the Ascension Sacred Heart Neurodiagnostics Laboratory, you will play a vital role in supporting our medical team to ensure an efficient and accurate utilization of electrophysiology to serve the patients in our community with neuromuscular conditions. We take great pride in the fact that we are the only neurodiagnostic laboratory in the Florida Panhandle that has acquired and maintained exemplary status certification by the American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM). Additional on-site training will be provided to qualified candidates to ensure you are fully equipped to excel in this role. We would certainly welcome candidates who are registered with the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET / R.NCS.T) or certified by the AANEM (CNCT). However, holding one or both of these designations is NOT required to apply. While we encourage our technologists to become registered and certified, this is also not required after accepting this position. Key Responsibilities: - Perform Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) - Prepare and stock treatment rooms for patient examinations in order to ensure a clean and organized environment. This includes working with associates with environmental services to coordinate - Maintain strict infection control practices, including cleaning exam rooms, tables, chairs, equipment, and touched surfaces, as well as changing bedding sheets in between patients - Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for testing as scheduled - Utilize AthenaHealth, Cerner and Cadwell Systems to review and record patient data. If the technologist is unfamiliar with these, training will be provided - Confirm testing and procedures by reviewing orders - Explain treatment procedures and provider instructions to patients under the provider’s guidance - Prepare patients for needle Electromyography (EMG) to be performed by the physician - Contacting provider offices and/or device technical support representatives to ensure that our patients with pacemakers and defibrillators are permitted to undergo the testing safely Required Skills and Qualifications: - Proficiency in medical terminology - Experience in neurodiagnostic medicine - Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work efficiently in a collaborative environment and manage multiple tasks Benefits: - Paid time off - Various health insurance options and wellness plans - Retirement benefits, including employer match plans - Long-term and short-term disability - Employee assistance programs - Parental leave and adoption assistance - Tuition reimbursement Why Join Our Team: Ascension Sacred Heart is a leading provider of high-quality healthcare to children and adults in South Alabama and Northwest Florida communities and operates Northwest Florida's only children's hospital.
