The A.A.E.T. originated in San Francisco, California, in 1974, and was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1985. We have established an examination committee and provide the only recognized national certification examination. This certification examination and its recognized credibility by the practicing Electrodiagnostic consultant, guarantees to the employer that the technologist so hired, is a certifiably knowledgable, competent, and qualified professional in the field of nerve conduction studies, as part of electroneurodiagnostic technology.
The membership concurs with the current Guidelines of the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and agrees by virtue of this membership to compliance with these standards.
The membership of the A.A.E.T. preserves human dignity, respects patients' rights, and supports the well being of the patient under the care of each member. The membership avoids discrimination against individuals on the basis of race, creed, religion, sex, age or national origin.
The membership of the A.A.E.T. appreciates the importance of thoroughness in the performance of duty, compassion with patients and the significance of the tasks each member performs.
The membership agrees to adhere to the preservation of confidentiality of medical and personal information of the patient.
The membership strives to remain abreast of current technology and to study and apply scientific advances to each's specialty.
The membership respects the law and does not illegally or unethically practice.
The membership respects that the interpretation of the results of nerve conduction studies is the domain of the electrodiagnostic consultant (MD, DO, or other physician so approved as skilled in electrodiagnostic medicine)
