Neurodiagnostic Tech - New Orleans, LA

Job Duties • Demonstrates the ability to perform the duties outlined for Electroneurodiagnostic (END) technologist under supervision. • Accurately takes and documents pertinent history from the patient or chart. • Sets-up patients for appropriate study, EEG, EP, NCS, TCD or IOM. . Measures/marks and accurately applies recording electrodes in a timely manner, according to the International 10-20 Electrode placement system. • Performs diagnostic studies with appropriate documentation and observation of the patient. • Troubleshooting equipment and physiological artifacts, distinguishing normal from abnormal and utilizing appropriate resources to perform study. • Demonstrates responsibility for professional development and maintaining required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials. Education • Required - High School diploma or equivalent • Preferred - Associates degree • Work Experience • Required - 2 years related experience • Preferred - 3 years of experience with ability to identify all vessels of the Circle of Willis and extracranial feeding vessels. Knowledge of the central and peripheral nervous system. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathologic processes, and aseptic techniques. Certifications • Required for certified techs • Preferred for non-certified techs • RVS, RCS, R.NCS.T, R.EEG.T, R.EP.T, CLTM, or CNIM, BLS certification Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard. • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals. • Highly competent in performing multiple neurodiagnostic testing modalities • Maturity and the ability to establish good rapport with patients and staff. • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and set and prioritize. • Ability to work flexible shifts (nights, evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.). • Knowledge of basic infection control standards relating to patient and equipment, including electrodes/probes.
